Rice pudding is popular throughout the world. It is prepared with various kinds of rice and a fluid like milk, water or coconut milk. It can be cooked or baked in the oven. There are savoury versions, but most are sweetened (with sugar or honey) and eaten for breakfast or dessert, often with the addition of dried or fresh fruits, nuts, flavours like vanilla or ginger and spices like cinnamon, cardamom or cloves. In Scandinavian countries, rice pudding is also served for Christmas.
