Belgian cooking looks in
a number of ways like Dutch cooking, and
especially recipes from Dutch Limburg,
even though in later years there must have been more influence from the
French. Bordering the sea, the Belgian
use a lot of fish, prawns and mussels.
Famous are obviously the (wrongly named)
French fries, Belgian beer is well
known beyond the borders as well and used in cooking. Vegetables like endives
and asparagus are used in season. Apart from fish, you can eat also game,
chicken, and rabbit, also the tame
one, is a part of many Belgian recipes. |
