Worldcook's Recipes with Brussels sprouts

This vegetable is called "Brussels sprouts" but it is not at all sure whether the vegetable originates from Belgium, but at least this country was the first to intensively grow it, just like endives. Brussels sprouts are best between October and February. The Brussels sprout plant is really beautiful; Brussels sprouts belong to the cabbage family. If you cook Brussels sprouts too long, they start to spread an unpleasant smell, like many of their cabbage family members; 10 minutes is usually sufficient. You can cook or stir fry them (small ones), they combine well with chestnuts.
