Herring with sweet and sour tomato sauce

Cod with Duvel sauce
|
- 4 HERRINGS, cut in pieces
- 2 GHERKINS, chopped
- 1/2 ONION, chopped
- 1 TBSP CAPERS
- 3 TBSP VINEGAR
- 2 TBSP SUGAR
- 2 TBSP TOMATO PUREE
- 1 TBSP OLIVE OIL

- 600 GRAM COD
- 1 CUP CREAM
- 1 CUP DUVEL (Belgian beer)
- 1 ONION, chopped
- HANDFUL CHERVIL, cut

Heat the tomato puree,
vinegar, sugar and oil and turn off the heat. Stir in the other ingredients
and marinate for 2 hours. Serve with white
bread.

Put the cod in a greased
oven dish. Mix the Duvel with the cream, the onion and pepper and salt
to taste and pour this over the fish. Bake the fish half an hour at
180 degrees Celsius and sprinkle
with chervil.
