  • 100 GRAM CHOCOLATE, chopped
  • 50 GRAM SUGAR
  • 2 TBSP CACAO POWDER

Heat the remaining milk with an egg yolk, the chocolate and the cacao until almost boiling and pour this over the pancakes.

This is a recipe from Hungary. Saint Stephen lived in the 10th century. He established the Kingdom of Hungary and spread Christianity, whilst fighting left and right. This was good enough to have him canonized on the 20th of August 1083. Click on culinary calendar for more links between cooking and history.

Arrange the cake slices on the bottom of a large glass bowl and sprinkle them with sherry. Arrange the banana slices on the cake. Heat a few tablespoons of orange juice and dissolve the gelatin leaves. Mix this with the remaining orange juice and pour it on the cake slices. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar and the corn starch. Heat the milk with 1/2 cup of cream. Add the egg yolk mixture, bring slowly to the boil while stirring. Switch off the heat when the custard thickens. Pour the custard on the strawberries and leave it to cool completely. Whip the remaining cream and put it on top.
