Waffles from Luik are a little different from those, served in Brussels. In Luik they are heavier and sweeter, and served without icing sugar. The shape is diamond or oval. In Brussels originally the waffles were rectangular with deep holes and served with icing sugar.

Waffles is a Belgian recipe and were traditionally served on the 1st of January. On Worldcook's New Year page you will find New Year recipes from all over the world. Click here for more recipes on the culinary calendar.
