Pesto Sambal oelek
  • 2 BUNCHES OF BASIL
  • 50 GRAM GRATED CHEESE
  • 50 GRAM PINE NUTS
  • 2 CLOVES GARLIC
  • 1 DECILITER OLIVE OIL
  • 1 TABLESPOON MAYONNAISE
  • 15 RED CHILI PEPPERS
  • 2 TEASPOONS OF SALT

Take the leaves of the basil. Put all the ingredients together in the food processor, add 1 teaspoon salt and mix for 1 minute. Keep in the fridge.

Pesto is delicious just on a slice of bread, but you can also use it in many recipes. The Worldcook website has a page on recipes with pesto to inspire you.

Try also red pesto with tomatoes and Sicilian pesto with anchovies.

Cut the peppers small and mix with the salt. Grind very fine in a food processor, or for an even better result, in a mortar. Put in a glass jar. You can keep the sambal in the fridge for 2 months.
