Chop suey is normally served as a Chinese dish but it is actually mainly served in the United States, even though mostly prepared by Chinese immigrants. The word chop suey in Chinese means something like "left-overs" ťor "mixed pieces" and thus is the Chinese equivalent of the (also not really Indonesian) nasi goreng.

You can read more about the Chinese-American cooking in the book "The fortune cookie chronicles"ť by Jennifer Leigh.

Chop the pepper, the onions and the green onions. Fry for 5 minutes. Add the mince meat and fry 10 minutes more. Cut the tofu in cubes. Add the tofu, the sugar and the soy sauce and heat for 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes and heat 1 minute more. Serve with rice and a cucumber salad and decorate with tomato slices.
